Friday Routines - 6/12 - Pictures? What Pictures

Yesterday I was in techno hell. In an effort to clean up my computer and get it to run faster I decided to clean up the two thousand plus pics I had in my Iphoto library. So I fired up my external hard drive and dragged and dropped until my fingers were stiff. The only thing I neglected to so was save the iphoto library...POOF...five years of pics GONE. One panic phone call to 1-800-myapple...the guy was very helpful sweet and nice but the news was sobering...unless I saved the library (not the application) they were gone scattered somewhere in the hard drive of my computer just waiting to be written over by another looming application. I spent over an hour searching for “recovering lost pictures software,” and then had a frustrated $49.95 download on a less than user-friendly site. I did recover nine thousand jpeg files, which took the better part of the day all except about 100 of them were the ones I wanted. That fiasco put me in bed at 8:45 from shear cyber exhaustion. I woke this morning still sad but with a thought...hmmm...maybe just maybe I could find an old copy of my old iphoto library...somewhere. I thought a good place to start was “pictures” (a techy I am not!) and there it was way, way, way at the bottom of the file...iphoto library and iphoto library copy. Now I am afraid to move the files.

I think I’m going old school with my photos again and will print them out when I get a bunch I love. I can’t take another day filled with tears on my keyboard thinking that wiping out pictures of friends, family and fun through the years is only a few clicks away.
