Friday Routines - 4/10 - Here Comes Peter Cottontail...

Smack me in the head.  What is wrong with me forgetting that I live on a HOLIDAY ISLAND!  And guess what?  People on vacation have to eat.  And do you know where they all shop?  Well, I DO...

Every place is heaving.  I’m not complaining.  It’s good for the island and after all...I used to come here on vacation before I decided to move here.  It’s a natural progression.  You come to Hilton Head on vacation, you fall in love with it and all it has to offer (a healthy outdoor life full of sports – if that’s your kind of thing) and if you are lucky enough to be divorced (not that I am in any way against marriage...at all) you get to look at your kids and say...hmmm...we’re outta here (London that was)...You guys are going to have a kids life!”  And away you go...you get your South Carolina license plate for the car and it’s official...you are no longer a tourist...but a full fledged island resident complete with a beach pass.

After all my yapping about my planning for Easter last week I only figured out last night what I’m making, hence my early morning trip to Publix and the meet and greet with everyone on the island.

We’re going casual this year and spend the afternoon watching the Masters.  So the menu is shaping up like this...fresh ham on the BBQ (per the kids request) It’s not difficult and doesn’t require a recipe just a method and I wrote about it last week in Friday Routines.  I also have a small fully cooked ham, since it’s an Easter tradition (again, no recipe necessary, but Elise over at Simply Recipes posted a doozy!  Check it out).  A traditional southern potato salad (my friend Terri loves it).  I’ll make homemade rolls throw a green salad in and dessert?  Lemon laced sugar cookies (recipe posted here a couple of weeks ago, just use the search button) and Three cities of Spain Classic Cheese cake (go to www.gourmet.com for best cheesecake recipe in the world!).  That’s it...I better get a move on I’m stressed out as the mug indicates. OH...and low country shrimp The little beauties are off the boat and here – just poached with cocktail sauce (recipe already posted again just use the search button)...See...panic has set in...
