The “Festival” season is starting up here on the Island. That means The Food and Wine Fest, The Wingfest and the Seafood Fest all fun events and “must do’s” if you are an islander. The cool thing about the Food and Wine Fest is that there are warm-up events prior to the March 14th date.

Honeyhorn Plantation House
This year it will be held at Honeyhorn a beautiful old historic house and plantation that dates back to 1859 sitting on 68 acres. I noticed a couple of fun things on the event schedule that, I think, will be well worth attending. First, there’s a wine tasting at Wine 4 Times (a new cool wine bar which just opened on the island) tickets a very reasonable $10.00. That’s definitely one for my iCal.
On Thursday the 12th – Chef’s of the South tasting menus at various restaurants across the island; Aqua Grill & Lounge, Old Fort Pub and Redfish – each restaurant is offering an extensive menu for the price of $99.00++. Then there’s the Grand Wine Tasting in Sea Pines for a whopping $150.00. It all ties up on the 14th at Honey Horn…and get this…This year there’s a Pie Contest the first one ever. I’m SO going to bake one or two for this. How exciting!
Now on to the Wingfest, March 21st…. that’s always a blast! Restaurants peddle their wings with varied sauces all hankering to win The Best Wings Award and bragging rights for a year.

Step aside big boys…this year It’s All Delicious is going enter the fray…OH, YES…We’re going to have our own entry tent when Mr. Wingfest organizing guy calls me back. Our wings will have a secret weapon that the others won’t…Great Grandma Giles’s BBQ sauce. We’ll pitch our tent, simmer our sauce, strut our stuff and compete in the amateur category…so exciting!
