Cooking From Within...Cleaning the Coffers Continues

I’m on a mission to cook with what I have on hand and can finally see.  My pantry is a thing of beauty now.  Organized and categorized, I actually caught myself going in there last night and admiring the shelves toying with the idea of alphabetizing everything…then my kids told me I was weird or maybe they said obsessive…can’t remember and don’t care.  I’m as happy as can be and gearing up for the holidays!

Neat and Tidy

I’m so excited that my aero garden has a proper home again.  The laundry room didn’t work for it.  I planted the herb garden yesterday and in 8 weeks I’ll have my winter supply of basil, chives, cilantro, dill, mint and parsley. Does it get any better than this?

Day one of my AeroGarden

Cleaning out the coffers continues and this is what I had left in the house to cook with…

So I’m making up sausage lasagna with béchamel sauce and Pecorino Romano cheese. Pecorino Romano seems to be a popular ingredient today.  Kalyn Denny used it in what sounds like a lovely recipe for roasted broccoli over at Kalyn’s Kitchen.

And for dessert I made banana cheesecake with a chocolate graham cracker crust.  I had one of those banana stare downs that Nicole experienced over at Pinch My Salt.  After reading her very funny post I can’t look at a banana without laughing.

I’ll post the recipes later this evening after I get the pictures taken and tastes just right.

I love pecorino romano cheese..I can't even put my finger on what makes it taste different than parmesan but it's sharp and so tasty! I put it on all kinds of pasta dishes and soups - yum!
