Friday Routines - 10/31 Halloween
Friday, October 31, 2008 at 8:33AM It’s Halloween and I almost forgot to buy candy. My kids are way beyond the dressing up and costume stage. They never experienced a true full frontal of a good American Hallows Eve. They were deprived; we lived in London when they were of “dressing up” age. The Brits had not yet caught on to the over the top stuck in there for no reason holiday to make you spend money thing...but it was just a matter of time.
I should talk. It didn’t take me long to jump back into Halloween. My kids laugh at me and my pumpkins of various sizes dotted around the house all lit up. I had a “Martha moment” the other day as I strolled around Williams Sonoma. I stopped and looked twice at a special Dremel pumpkin carving drill. The sales assistant told me “it’s our last one.”
That got me thinking…last one? The last one? I need this. I need it to carve my pumpkins? What if it’s the last one on the entire island? How cool, a special pumpkin carving drill. I gotta have it!
Then I remembered…Sally, you don’t carve pumpkins any more…you plug them in now.
Happy Halloween!
