Texas Beef Brisket Chilli with Autumn Squash - Bon Appetit, October 2008

Me

This was good and tasty as is. I'm sure it will be even better (as the recipe states) tomorrow, but I couldn't wait.  The steps were easy, not much to fiddle with so basically on the repertoire to do again.  For my personal preference?  I'll double the quantity of chili/garlic puree and can see using that type of combo as a base for other chili recipes.  A good find (well it wasn't that hard to find since it was on the cover of Bon Appetite) and a recipe to grow with.

Friday's Dinner:  Yup, it was a lot richer in taste this eve.  Delicious!

 Mom

"It was really tasty.  I liked the flavor and think it will be more intense tomorrow.  I liked the chunks of brisket they were very tender.  I didn't miss the traditional bean and pepper combination and liked the ancho chiles.  I love butternut squash too, so this was a perfect autumn dish."

   Luke

"I liked it and I don't like chili.  I liked the beef pieces instead of ground beef or whatever.  I even liked the squash.  It wasn't too spicy.  Skipped the avocado and mopped stuff up with the tortillas."

Soph

"It was good, I didn't know how to eat it though.  I got the tortilla and Mum made rice and stuff, but didn't know how to put it together.  The kitchen smelled really good when I came home and while it was cooking.   I'd like it if  Mum to made it again and am taking some to school tomorrow for lunch."
